This issue details the story of the Howe Scale company from its beginnings in 1864 to its end in 1982. It covers in depth the changes in leadership and direction during the company’s 118 year existence. The author is a Kendall Wild, who was a Vermonter, Harvard graduate, and ACLU award winner. The article is lacking in sources of any kind, but includes several period photos and drawings as well as advertising from throughout the Howe Scale company’s history. Several stories are told, with special focus being given to the various heads of the company and their lives.
